I have a 460 I would like to trade for 302. its all new except for block and pistons. has 800 edelbrock, stealth intake, roller rocker arms,4x4 extreme cam and new bearings, pro comp aluminum heads, double roller timing chain and gears, high proformance lifters. chevy style distributor, high volume oil and fuel pump, new rings and crank bearings, new push rods and oil pump shaft, over the frame mad dog headers new starter and altenator new belts new radiator ford racing valve covers edelbrock air cleaner (ribbed).also has the 460 clutch and flywheel conversion kit

the issues I am not sure why but it will cut out at low rpms once the rpms are up it does fine I'm not sure but I think it needs higher octane gas the motor is in my truck and running if you are interested I would trade for a 302 or I have a 302 if you can rebuild it

Sounds more like your carb has issues air/fuel idle circuits not low octane that would ping.
