TSB15-0131

Well, My weekend just feels ruined after reading through this thread. I feel like I got got by the Ford Dealer I went to. What are the cons of not fixing this problem in the now? I have basically 3+ times a week that this is happening now with my 13' Ecoboost Lariat.
Back ground info on my situation. I bought mine off of my Father In Law in 16 with ~35,000 miles on it and I was in a front end collision that cause $20k+ of damage in 2016 with around ~36,000-40,000 miles on it and the dealer didn't total it out. Repaired everything. I noticed this TSB 15-0131 described problem after having everything fixed on this vehicle and called and told the dealer what I was hearing and they couldn't replicate the problem. This was December of 16, January of 17. They asked me if it was after sitting overnight, I said yes, but not on every cold start up, just some. They couldn't replicate, so probably not a problem is what I'm told. This has continued since then. Fast Forward to today, I've got ~85k miles on my F150 and it's doing this probably every other day on cold start up. Am I at their mercy that I had reported this problem prior, both within the covered mileage and time frame or am I SOL and going to have to dole out $3,000+ for the fix?

Record the sound with your phone. Then play it when you take it in. Mind seemed to rattle more as the oil change neared. I had mind done $2500. They originally wanted over $3000+. I had 2 different people quote me around $2500-2700. He chopped the labor rate down to $100 per hr. From $145.

2014 Ecoboost going in
Reading this thread has made be fear for the worst. I just dropped my truck off at the dealership and going to see what the issue is. I got a CEL p0172 @57k when my truck was still under warranty and I took it in. I started noticing the rattling during startup. The CEL had went away and the dealership said there was nothing wrong. I had cleaned the MAF sensors and The CEL didn’t come back until 61k. I took it to my local mech cleaned the sensors again and light went off for 25miles and came back. The local mech said he can hear the chain slapping. I called Ford to see if this was true that my timing chain needs to be replaced at 61k. They instructed me to take it into the dealership and see where it goes from there. I’m pretty sure my truck falls in this TSB. I’m upset that even though I raised the issue while under warranty and now it’s not going to be covered under warranty. My question is, why doesn’t ford cover these cost fully since it’s a design/parts issue??

"fixed"
I had this problem. The dealer fixed it under warranty. It is now out of warranty and happening again. So what, now I'm required to pay $1,500 to do what, "fix" it again so it can break again? I mean obviously, for me, it doesn't come across as a fix if the same thing happens again, right? It was the replacement of a part that failed as a symptom of an underlying root cause. Ford can't call it a fix if they're not addressing root cause. This is a very expensive repair given the labor hours. Combine this with all the ridiculous inter-cooler issues (just drill a weep hole they say), updated tuning, misfires, extreme downshifting, no brakes in reverse or at idle, most of which is the result of the ecoboost, and it's hard not to feel like I'm paying to be Ford's guinea pig.
