Problem with doing this is IF you get another code you won't know it! ME? I'd much rather know when my CEL comes on!

that code is more on the electrical side of the egr I think.
may want to check the valve itself--you may have a bad one if it's not gummed up. you also may want to take a look at the plug and make sure it's good.
p0400 code
Possible causes
- Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) volume control valve stuck closed
- Faulty Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) volume control solenoid valve
- Faulty EGR Valve
- Faulty EGR temperature sensor and circuit
- Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) solenoid valve harness is open or shorted
- Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) solenoid valve circuit poor electrical connection
- Dead (Weak) battery

I hear all the time gota keep the egr plugged in gotta keep it plugged in. But never does anyone explain why beside that it affects the operation of the fan. Mine been deleted for awhile now an I've run 10k plus an haven't noticed the fan doing anything odd with the egr unplugged. So can someone explain why?

On the original question- it's a true statement IF you change "will" to "can" affect fan operation. The EGR valve isn't just an actuator, it reports its position back to the PCM so it provides a sensor function as well. Different PCM flash versions will react differently to a total loss of input from the EGR valve. Also, IAT2 monitors the intake charge temp just after the valve so with the flow blocked at the cooler, a command to open the valve with no corresponding increase in temp at IAT2 can (depending on flash version) cause the PCM to throw a p0404. See issue #4 on KDAVID1's list above. I also agree with him that the EGR valve is likely electrically bad due to the p0400. The PCM tried to move the valve and it didn't return a proper response or the response value is higher or lower than it should be (outside the window). There is a slight chance it's very dirty and not moving because it's binding or has an EGR "marble" stuck in it. I'd give cleaning a shot, then change the valve if that doesn't work. Unfortunately, it may happen that a new/clean valve will clear the 400 and it will start popping the 404 after you get the 400 fixed.

Ok now i'm confused..why was I not getting the error code Before I did the delete if the valve or connection is bad? I bought the truck used so I honestly done know what flash is on it, its an late '04. There are 2 many sensors on these 6 liters. in my opinion.
Thanks again. and ill pull the valve today and have a look see at it.

If you think there's too many sensors now you'll never want to go any newer. One of the last gen's the average joe can comfortably work on with hand tools.
Really, codes and parts fail whenever they want, it may seem like a funny coincidence that it's happened now. Just pull it and give it a look, and check the connector/pigtail for good connection and no wire chaffing

well I did what was recommended, and the 0400 code is gone, for now. I just did gaskets and studs on this truck and with me removing the connector and reinstalling it Maybe the dielectric grease that someone used prior insulated one the terminals. So is the 0401 code related to fan operation? Just asking in case I get that now. Thanks again. I ordered a New EGR Valve as well, Just in case.
