Rear axle travel highboy??

How much does the rear axle move under normal driving conditions? Im trying to add a second fuel tank but the only place i can put it is above the axle. I want to keep my spare tire (using ford bronco 2 tank btw)

Thank you all

Wrap one ziptie at the base of each shocks' ram/rod and go out for your typical drive and prolly an atypical excursion too. The ziptie will slide up and indicate the max suspension travel during your test.

Compare that how much room ya got.

I would guess it has a rather stiff suspension and not alot of travel and if you are not hauling heavy bed loads or towing loaded trailers, just figure 2" to 3" at the most.

Probably more like 1" to 2" in all reality? How is that for a SWAG?

I remember doing this for whatever reason some time ago. I have 11 ply of spring in the rear. I believe it only traveled like 1" on the shock. It's not as much as you would think. I'm guessing you might have a couple less ply but I bet it's still only around 1" under normal conditions.
