Slammed the hood, but latch was closed

Nothing like that feel good feeling after doing some big mods and listening to your truck run afterwards. Then all the feel-good stuff went away when I slammed the hood. Apparently, I must have folded the latch down by accident while I was crawling all over the truck. The hood release in the cab and the latch under the hood will not free it.

The only option I see is to remove the grill (forcefully, since the top screws are inaccessible) and try to access the latch hardware. Other than that, I can't figure out what to do????

If the hood is all the way down , there still may be room for a 1/4 drive ratchet to loosen the latch bolts through the grill openings , you'll have to feel around for the bolts . It will take time but it can be done . The latch bolts are 10 MM. If its in the secondary , an extension with a swivel , will get it .

In my case I left a screw driver behind the latch & after shutting the hood this was the result .

10mm gear-wrench (ratcheting box wrench) might do the trick. If there's a disembodied fingertip stuck to one of the bolts, alert the authorities....

The "hood latch disengagement, now open" mod has been completed.
I would comment on what a PITA it was to get that bolt on the driver's side, but since I had an employee with nothing else to do today, he got to experience it instead of me. I watched him out my window for about 20 minutes trying to get it off

Yes, the main latch was folded down, and the hand release hook was lodged in the hole in the hood. The hood was essentially wedged between the 2 latches. You know how you have to push down slightly on the hood to operate the hand release? Well, you could not move it downward at all because it was wedged so tightly.

I had this same thing happened just before my wife took the truck and horse trailer up to horse ride in Va.last Thursday. Which was a disaster .
I closed the hood fairly hard and it locked up tight!! Not closed and not open...Dang.
At first I thought I had left a wrench some where under there causing the hood not to close.
Then comes the locked up hood issue, can not get it to open. I noticed the safety latch was locked in and would not move either. I was already very upset due to a vacuum pump and a check engine light being on for 3 days

I am a old 69 yrs old been run hard and put up wet to many times Got a bad hip both knees and lower back is about shot also.
I took a swivel stool and a broom and got the hood to open. I used the stool to clime up on the hood, I stuck the broom handle between the safety latch and the front grill. I sat down on the hood and bounced a little while pushing my leg against the broom about the 3rd. bounce the latch open and the was open
