How to covert from SRW to DRW?

Hey guys, I have a 93 F350 7.3IDI 4x4. it's single rear wheel, and I'd like to make it a dually. I have access to a DRW axle from a 1992 F350 Rwd truck. Can I just pull parts from the axle donor or is it a full swap? Your help is greatly appreciated

If gear ratios are the same then yes you can simply swap axles. Good luck!

I seem to remember a recent thread that said the dually rear was the same as srw. Do
you have a dually bed?

the dually rear will work if it came out of a DRW pickup. if it is from a DRW cab chassis truck, it will not fit.

Don't forget, you also will need dually front hubs from a 4wd dually

Okay, it's a dually with a bed. It's a 2wd. So I'll have to grab from hubs off a 4x4 dually elsewhere. Does anyone know if the 2wd dually front wheels will fit 4x4 hubs?

Yes, the wheels will fit but they have a different offset 2wd to 4wd

2wd 2wd 5.00
dually van 5.15
4wd dually 5.35

4wds have more offset for the bigger tires

Okay so I have works out a deal for the rear axle and wheels. But I wanted to get your guys opinions. It's coming from a 2wd pickup so the back spacer will be less. Is it worth waiting to find a set from a 4wd or is it not a big deal. I know I'm gonna want to fit tires that are at least 4wd oe or little bigger if that's possible. Also I read somewhere else to make sure the rear axle has VSS, what is that and will a 1992 axle have it? thanks fellas!

I just grabbed a front 4X4 hub for my dually from a wrecker in NH called P&L auto...less than $100 shipped to CA. I know hes got one left. I used car-parts.com to locate the hub and there were several other vendors with them available. Good luck!

VSS is Vehicle Speed Sensor, and a '92 has one.
