650cfm on 302

Is the fuel.pumps the.same on a 79' 302 and a 87' 351w and if not could the pump from the 302 support my 650cfm on my 351w

Probably... unless you're' turning more than 6000 rpm.

Mechanical fuel pumps between 302 and 351W are interchangeable ... like HIO says, there may be different applications that have different flow rates. (E.g., the mid-80s Mustang 302s w/ 4V carb might flow more fuel than the '79 2V application). But that probably won't be an issue unless you're drag racing the thing.

However, an '87 351W was presumably fuel-injected? That would have had an electric in-tank pump. You may need to replace the timing cover with one that supports a mechanical fuel pump if the engine wasn't originally equipped with one.

The '87 351 and 460 were both carbed still, it was the 1st yr of EFI for the 300

Ah, good to know - I was thinking they had switched the 351W to EFI the same year as the 302 ('86). Guess I was wrong.
