Adding OEM trailer brake controller to a 2012 F250 XL
Hello all, first post here, and thanks in advance to any advice given.
I know this has been talked about in the past, but I haven't found the answer to what I was looking for, so New Post it is...
Just bought a new to me 2012 F250 XL 6.7 CCLB, its my first Ford, actually. I'm not sure what the previous owner was doing with it, to be honest because it has a gooseneck hitch in it, but NO TBC. just the coin tray.
So just from lurking around on this and other forums, I bought and installed the OEM TBC. It went in in about two minutes and looks fine.
Here's the question: In all I read in the past, I thought I was supposed to get a warning message about a TBC fault in the message center. I get nothing, even when pressing the buttons on the tbc like a 3 year old while pressing the brake. Also, are the buttons supposed to be backlit?
I checked the fuse in the passenger footwell and under the hood, both are good. I want to take it in to get programmed to recognize the TBC, but I wanted to make sure it is going to work when I get there.
And just to be sure, on trucks with a working OEM TBC, does pressing buttons without a trailer attached do anything on the message center?
Ben
