1994 F150 Transmission Help

I have a 1994 F150 2wd with the 5.0 and the 4R70W transmission. The truck only has 85k miles on it and ive already had to rebuild the transmission. Looks like i need to do it again. But instead of doing that was wondering if it would be better to swap the transmission out for a different one.

When speeding up or heavy acceleration it is downshifting and staying in that gear, causing the engine to overrev and only changes gears when at very low RPMs again. I have a new shift sensor waiting to be put in once i get a new filter and gasket but is that all i should really need or is there a better transmission i can throw in there?

I eventually want to do my own version of a Ford Lightning (even though it has the 5.0 and its a long bed, still would be pretty cool to have a truck that can get out of its own way). Any help or ideas?

The 4R70W is 100% electronic controlled. Pull the codes.

Changing parts without knowing what's wrong is almost always a waste of money. And what's a shift sensor? I thought I knew all the parts in this transmission, but I don't know what a shift sensor is.

Get the codes read. Don't go to an auto parts store, they can't read Ford transmission codes.
