1994 Ford F250 rear axle seal numbers or sizes
I've got a 1994 F250, 4WD with IDI turbo 7.3. Just got done putting a trans in it and I see signs of a slight oil leak on one side of rear axle. I looked up my records on the truck and found out I've never put brakes in the back since I owned it (over 100K miles). Never even had the drums off. So long-story short, I want to pre-order new shoes, hold-down kit, wheel cylinders, and axle seals. I tried to look up part numbers at Ford with my VIN and pretty much got nowhere.
I'm guessing the brakes are 2 1/2" wide since I measured the drums from the outside and see no way there's room for 3" wide shoes.
The axle seals have me the most stumped. And yes, I could just pull it apart and measure or get numbers off of them - but I'd like to get the parts first, pull into my shop for one night, and fix with little down-time.
I had enough trouble figuring if the rear was a Ford or Dana. After looking at rear-cover photos on-line, I figure it must be a Ford. Truck is a 8800 GVWR. Rear axle is rated at 6084 lbs. Axle tubes are 3 1/2" OD. Metal tag on rear axle reads - S129C 10102 3J20. VIN of truck is: 1FTHX26K6RKA09628 Manufactured 9/93.
I looked in the NAPA parts database and only find the bearing and seal kit, just like Ford sells for the 10.25" rear axle (assuming that's what I have).
Rock Auto shows two possibilities. Both measure 4.75" OD, 3.43" shaft-size, and one is .85" thick and the other is .7" thick. One is SKF34387 and is a Scotseal. The other is SKF 34385 and is a Scotseal Plus XL.
Anybody know if these measurements are correct for my rear?
