Hi from Konstanz/Germany
Hej mates,
My name is Carsten, come from good old germany, live close to swiss boarder.
I search for my trip in US my first pickup Truck.
I want to buy one for my trip and will travel around for 6 weeks.
Meet friends and familiys.
So I search now an old Ford Bullnose Truck from 85-86.
It must be a Crew Cab in good condition. No rost or less.
4x4 and Diesel. I dont need a princess but a solid car.
When you c or have one to offer-give a sign
In the future I will ask you a lot about the Truck
Beacause I do it all by my self.
( Bild up a MAN KAT 1 to a expedition Camper)
When you have question to germany- feel free to ask.
Best regards
Carsten

Check craigslist.com for the area that you will be in when visiting the U.S. That website has subdomains for different regions in the country. You can buy used from a private seller, or visit a reputable dealer who sells used cars. If you have trouble judging the quality of the condition of a truck you are looking at you can also have a mechanic look at it before you make an offer.
There are plenty of these trucks available all over the U.S., so it depends on the state you visit.
Rust is a problem in areas that get snow because of the salt used on roadways. Cars from the desert, or southern states tend to be rust free unless they spend a lot of time on the beach . . .
Good luck

Thanks markeyd.
Craiglist.com i cheked-Its a lot inside but a lo of scrap.
The Truck I need must be mobile. For the first ride nothing to fix.
Thats no metter where the Truck is, because I go from east to west coast.
The key facts are: 85-86 Frod Truck, 4x4, Diesel, Crew cab, and less rost, for the ride in US for 6 weeks must be all working. Air condition is great, but not must have.
Later after my trip I will ship this truck to germany. And in germany its difficult (not possible) to get big spareparts like fender, seats, engine, and engine-parts.
Yes I can buy spareparts in US when i make the trip and fix some.. But in reason the Truck must run well and no rost on frame( I cant by a frame in G)
Best greatings

You might get lucky, but often times when you buy an older used truck like that you are buying someone else's problems . . . meaning something will need fixing on the truck at some point. Just be careful and have the car inspected thoroughly before you buy it. You might be better off with a vw amarok or something. I wish you luck. Where are you going to be when on the east coast?

Hi Markeyd, its not defently . I can go where I want. A bit of New York. But for rest of the travel I m be free
I will NEVER buy a VW Amarok! The clutch is scrab... Only the clutch cost here 1200€ without making inside in a garage!
I hope for exactly that someone of the forum give me THAT niace offer

Cool. I bought a 1966 so I could do this, so I understand. Parts are cheap, and easy to come by. I bought a new alternator for about $US 40. A starter was about $50 . . .
If you get a truck from the later 1960's in good shape they look cool, and do not have all the emissions junk in them. Even the 1970's trucks have plenty of room, and not too much of the emissions stuff, and all those sensors everywhere. The 80's were not a great decade for automobiles in America in my opinion . . .
Buy some parts that wear out while you are here: a carburetor rebuild kit, brake pads, etc., so you have it for when you need it . . .
Good luck.

What for "emissions stuff" have the 85-86 Modell? (Diesel version)
Sometimes the 70's looks so realy cool.
My favorite is the 85/86 Ford 4 door Centurion- but this car I never found.
Its like a F 350 but a bit smaler...
with a ?hood? over the plank bed it the F350 also nice A verry good compromise
Its not easy to find a truck in my specs- I realy hope for a offer from some forum mate.
