Hi guys

I am about to make a new exhaust system and I am open to any imput you can give me.

I will have the stock y block pushed 40 over so it makes it about 282 ci. with g-heads, -B manifold, a Holley 390 4-barrel, Mummert dual ram horns and Mummert Y-270-S cam shaft.

I was thinking of making dual 2" system with a cross pipe underneath the transmission and then put two mufflers like these

Rostfri universaldel Ljuddämpare BIG 51 Universal part Silencer stainless steel BIG 51

One on each side of the driveshaft, then a route it over the rear axle and out behind the bed.

I want a system that is silent with just a slight roumble. I dont want it to be to loud on highway speeds.

Is a cross pipe necessary or what is the main purpose with a cross pipe.

Is it better to put two smaller mufflers on each side? one at the driveshaft and one close to the endpipe?

Not familiar with that particular muffler. I've always used Thrush or Walker turbo mufflers for a nice quiet rumble. I've never been a fan of cross over pipes. It changes the sound of dual mufflers...

 

A Y block sounds good with any muffler, but to make one sound great you need SMITHY'S mufflers

 

I agree but they are on the loud side...

 

the longer ones are quieter
