Disc Brake P-Valve Warning Light

So, I've installed the front disc brake upgrade to my '65 F-100 and I want to wire the brake differential valve warning light. I've installed an indicator light on my dash but I don't know how to wire the switch correctly. From what I've read the switch is "hot" all the time and if the brake system proportioning valve gets out of adjustment, the switch grounds out and completes the circuit and the warning light illuminates. The switch plug has 2 purple wires coming from it. I assumed one went to the warning light and the other to "ground". Apparently that is not correct as the my warning light stays illuminated. I've attached a photo of the switch installed on the p-valve. Has anyone done the disc brake upgrade and added the warning light? If so, can you provide the wiring you used?

The current path travels through the valve body assembly itself, and then to ground.

How the switch and warning light are wired.

(I recognize the photo you included as being my own)

If that's the style OEM valve assembly you have, it was produced by Kelsey-Hayes. It contains three internal functions: Metering, Pressure Differential sensing and Proportioning. --it's the second valve in the following diagram.

Thank you Sir, I'll give it another try. Yes, it was much easier to edit an existing pic vs trying to get under my truck witha camera...

So, upon reviewing this wiring diagram it appears that I need to utilize a two wire light assembly. Currently I am using a one wire assy and the assy must be immediately grounding to the metal dash panel.

Is that the correct intepretation or have I missed something?

Thanks ND.

Can you provide me with the part number for the dash indicator light assembly?

1968/72 F100/350:

The brake warning lamp socket is part of the dash wiring harness, the only individual parts available were the bezel and lens (C0AZ-10A840-A), its retaining spring (B9FM-10A848-A) and the bulb (C3AZ-13466-B #1895).

OK, i need a little more help. Ultraranger posted the wiring diagram for the warning light and it is from a '69 ignition switch and I have the '65 ignition switch. Can someone look at these 2 diagrams and convert the '69 ignition switch connections to the '65 ignition switch? Also, each switch has a "brake warning light" post. Is this for the rear brake stop lights? Thanks in advance for all the help

Are you using the 1 wire switch or the 2 wire switch? How about for the dash light? Does it have one wire or two?

The light needs to have power and ground to light up, and the switch needs to control either the power or the ground.

How you hook it up depends on how the switch works and how the light gets power and ground.

Thanks for the questions. I'm not wiring a switch but a brake warning light. The wire is positive(+) throught the circuit and when/if the brake pressure becomes unbalanced the proportioning valve switch will engage and create the path to ground thereby completing the circuit and causing the warning light to shine. I've pulled wire number 977A from post "A" on the '65 switch. What I need help with is determining which is the appropriate teminal on the '65 ignition switch to complete the (+) pathway for wire number 640 as shown on the '69 wiring diagram.

Any terminal that only has power when the ignition switch is on will work.
