purchased a used 2011 F450 RV .
I connect an inverter to the cigarette lighter and run my computer . after about 15 minutes a soft beeping sound starts ( like an alarm) , and continues until I disconnect the inverter ? what is happening ? are there controls ? maybe faulty inverter? help?!!!

Many inverters have an audible alarm to let you know the source voltage has dropped to a preset level. This is to protect the battery. I have an inverter set up in my 5th wheel to run the fridge while I am on the road. When I get to where I am going and start running the slides out before I plug in, the inverter starts yelling at me.

Your inverter could be alarming for different reasons. It could be overloaded or starting to get over temp.

inverter

the inverter is a motormaster eliminator 400w with 320 watts continuous .
I plug it into the cigarette lighter - have not used it for about 10 years , it worked fine in my Riviera. it is an soft buzzing sound coming from the truck and not the inverter....

inverters use about 10A for every 100watts the produce. I doubt the cig lighter is rated at 40A.

but yes, the beeping is probally the low voltage warning.....as the inverter gets used...battery voltage drops.
