Replacing the "insulation" in am 90 e350?

The cover inside the cab has almost no insulation left. It gets hot and loud in the truck. Anyone know where I can buy some replacement material? I went to home Depot and thought about buying the insulation in the image, but didn't but it because it has a layer of paper, it might etc too hot in there and I did t want the paper to burn up.

Any suggestions?

Not sure where you're talking about exactly... but you /can/ remove the backing paper from fiberglass insulation.
I'd probably use a rag mat or heavy rug material(cotton would be best). It should handle the (not extremely high) temps of your engine cover, quiet the noise etc.

To better answer your question we need some more details. I have done some insulation work on my e250. There are also quite a few threads on this subject in the van forum. If you can elaborate on your plans we could make better suggestions.

I'd like to add insulation to the plastic engine cover inside the cab. And now that I think of it, the hood has no insulation either. So for both I'd like to add. Will help with sound and heat.

I used an 1/8" layer of Coolz-It reflecting sticky back on the doghouse (facing the engine side), then put the stock doghouse insulation over that. If you don't have any doghouse insulation, you can find gasser (3/16" foam with a reflecting metal layer) versions of the stock unsulation at the junkyard all the time. As for diesel insulation (it's about 1/2" felt-like fabric), it's harder to find. However, you probably could run the gasser insulation, as long as you didn't have a turbo. I considered running two layers of the gasser insulation.

I wouldn't use the insulation you showed for that application. I did something similar to genscritper. I used this from Summit. It was listed as the Summit Brand stuff

Pulled the stock insulation and stuck it to the inside of the doghouse. Ended up with enough to do 1 coat on all of it and a 2nd on parts.

Then I put the stock insulation back on.

For the outside of the doghouse you can try and source a premade cover or you could use some kind of HD carpet attached with adhesive.

You can also purchase hood specific insulation from quite few vendors. Summit has a decent selection.
