Wheel Lift tow device? Beefing up receiver for heavy tongue weight?

Has anyone ever seen an Excursion with a Wheel Lift type tow "stinger"?

Buy used 2000 Ford Excursion XLT Sport Utility 4-Door 5.4L With Repo Sneaker Lift in Cedar Falls, Iowa, United States

Most of my towing is for my track car or parts donors.

Backing a trailer, winching a dead car up, paying extra tolls when I'm hauling an empty trailer, it all gets to be a PITA.
This wheel lift "stinger" might be a nice ticket.

Although I don't need something as stealthy as a repo lift. I can maybe fire up the welder and build something that'll fit into the receiver hitch.

Now, my track car is 2500 lbs with a 50/50 weight distribution. That's 1250 lbs per axle... Plus whatever the contraption I build weighs.
That's over the Tongue Weight limit of the Excursion's receiver.

Does anyone sell a receiver that'll take more? Maybe 1500-2000 lbs Tongue Weight?

As a guy that spent 25 years in the towing racket, I'll suggest you forget the thought of attempting this with an Excursion as fast as it popped into your head...... especially if you are going to make something home-brew. There could be no tow truck more useless than that one. I can only imagine it was built to be a write-off for the owner of the company's family vehicle. Twelve hundred pounds set back that far (where the center of the towed vehicle's axle would be) would end up being what ??? 3600 pounds of 'tongue weight' ? You would be so incredibly limited on what you could tow, what would be the point? There aren't many Yugos left out there. In 25 years I had the pleasure of operating ONE wheel- lift wrecker built on a 54" CA F350. It was great for running to Dunkin Donuts to get coffee.... everyday towing, not so much. And even that had the rear body sculpted so that with some vehicles on the hook, you could suck the wheel lift all the way in to make the towed vehicle 'lighter'. No way you can do that with an Excursion. Please do yourself a favor and stick with a trailer.

I didn't think a 4x4 Excursion with a gasoline 5.4L V8 would be able to pull that much.

Guess I'll stick with the tandem axle.

Why not? I see 5.4 super duties pulling skid steers and mini excavators and hauling 5k of scaffolding all the time. I'm curious to how they rigged the sneaker since the gas tank is in the way. I don't really see the point of using an excursion...not really any better or worse than a super duty though, really.
