I finally got some wheels and tires for my 1950 F1. But now I've run into another issue. I got some 15x7 Wheel Vintiques Gennies in chrome. When I tried to mount them, they were fine on the front but the back ones look like the lug bolt is about 1/2" too short. I installed the Speedway disc brake kit on the front, so I guess that explains the front. The bolts are apparently longer. Has anyone else had this issue with the rear wheels over drums? Where did you come up with replacement lug bolts? Thanks.
Yep, they are. The old steel wheels didn't have the problem, but they wouldn't clear the front discs. They would rub the calipers. So I bought the Gennies.
I am with Ross on this, I have never seen an issue like the lug bolts being to short for steel wheels, usually it is with alloy wheels. Keep us informed what the issue was here.
I have some pics. I haven't uploaded pics before, so I'm trying to figure it out. So far I've tried to create an album, but the network is so slow it just errors out. I'll keep trying and see what happens.
Also, I replaced the rear drums with new ones. I'll have to check and see what difference they may appear to have compared to the old ones.
I am thinking the new brake drum center hole that slides over the axle is smaller than the original and the brake drum is not flush against the axle hub or the drum is hitting the backing plate not allowing the brake drum to fit tight onto the axle hub.

I agree, it doesn't look like the drum fits correct. With that in mind I'm curious as to where he bought the drums.
In two of the lower bolt holes it also looks like there are bolts on the brake drum that arent letting the wheel sit flat against the brake drum.
We had that discussion a few weeks back, that would be the factory bolts holding the drum on. Many feel they are not necessary but they really don't interfere with the rim fitting.
For sure double check your drum/axle and wheel/drum fitment, but I had a similar issue with a customers Gennie wheels awhile back. Studs were a bit too short....no other fitment issues, the wheels are just made differently than stock ones. Longer studs took care of it.
