Got rid of my 14 Sierra POS and picked up a 15 F150

So I got rid of my 14 GMC Sierra Z71 that I had numerous problems with and bought a 2015 F150 Lariat and so far I love it. My F150 did come with a front bug shield. So now the question is should it stay or should it go. What are your opinion.

I'd say take it off. I've never had one but I just don't like the look of them. Just my .02 worth.

I'd leave it on. I have had them on my trucks in the past and they helped protect the front edge of the hood from rock chips.

I agree. The only shields that actually do a good job of keeping bugs off the windshield are the ones that are vertical, but the shorter profiled ones do keep the leading edge of the hood free of chips.

I put a snug bit hood protector on mine and it fits directly against the hood with 3M tape. I'm concerned about stone chips on the front of the hood, the windshield doesn't matter to me.

I didn't put one on my current truck, but I'll be putting one on my next one. I miss having it on there to protect the front edge of my hood.

I've had a couple that wore through the paint. I'd take it off.

Just curious. What all went sour with the sierra?

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Do you want to live with the permanent ugliness of the shield, or the minor blemishes of the occasional rock?

Might also depend on where you live, and the nature of the roads you drive on. I lived in Minnesota, where a lot of the roads I drove on were gravel, and we really hauled on them, with rocks flying everywhere. In that case, I might be inclined to have the shield. OTOH, if you are driving around town all the time, and/or on improved highways (without a lot of crap-hauling rigs dropping stuff all the time), then I would opt for no shield.

Personally, I think the "improvement" is worse than the problem.

All of the bug shields on my trucks had a clear rubber bumper on the inside of them that prevented the bug shield from making contact with the paint. I never had any issues of the paint being worn off.

The radio sucked, homelink worked half the time, drivers side seat would shift side to side, any smells from out side like eshaust would come in the cab regardless of air circulation setting, popping noise in the dash that sounds like a rock hitting the windshield happens everyday, transmission problems, leather on steering wheel problems, and a service department with a we don't care attitude. I could name more things I didn't like but those could have been just me

How are things going with your new F150? Trouble free and enjoying it?

And when the bumpers fall off you get rubbed through paint....
