mustang gas tank sending unit/ ground?

pardon the silly question, do I need to ground the fuel sending unit? I have a painless wiring harness, the pink wire 939 is my sending unit wire, but do i need to run a jumper ground?? I have dolphin gauges, and sent the sending unit in to them so they could rebuild it to work with their gauges. Just about ready to put gas in the tank

Hopefully your fuel tank is already grounded...the bolts/screws that hold the sending unit to the tank should provide the ground you need. All of this is based on the assumption that you are not running an aftermarket plastic tank however.

If the tank is installed with rubber insulators or rubber lined straps you may need to run a gound wire between the tank and frame. I'd err on the side caution and run a simple jumper wire between the tank and frame. Too many grounds will never cause a problem, but too few is the most common cause of electrical gremlins. I like to use ring connectors with internal teeth and attach to bare metal.

On the back of my fuel gauge I added a twin male spade fitting and ran one wire to the harnesses ground that joins all of the gauges and the other I have connected to the engine. My tank is rubber mounted, so I have added another from a bolt in the sender to the chassis.

Id run a dedicated ground.... just doing that might help with inaccuracies in sender/gauge feed in the future.
