Tool for removal of oil pressure sending unit

I have a '78 F-250 with the 351M engine. The oil pressure readings are erratic and I want to change out the sending unit. This unit is the long version for dashes with the gauge rather than the idiot light so some form of offset wrench will be required to reach the 9/16" nut under the sending unit body. I found a wrench at the local Ford dealer made by K-D tools but the legs on the wrench opened up when I tried to remove the old unit. I may try to heat treat this wrench to get a little more strength but in the meantime I called the specialty tool mfgs. like Snap-On and none of them can find a wrench to do this job. Since I can't be the only person wanting to replace this sending unit, there must be some wrench out there to do the job. Can anyone help???

Just a thought, but how about a crowsfoot?? When I changed mine a few years ago.....I used a 9/16 combo wrench. Climbed up over the top of the engine and started turning it. Another option would be to heat up a wrench with a torch and bend it into a 90 and have someone with a welder tack on a piece of iron for a handle. My Dad had one made years back for the distributor bolt.

You can buy some distributor wrenches (pre-bent). They are typically available at auto parts stores for cheap.

They do make them....My Grandpa had one that I borrowed once and use on a 1972 Ford LTD with a 400. Worked slick.

If your replacing it you could just use a pipe wrench on the body or drill a hole clear through the body and stick a screw driver through it if there's enough clearance .. Last resort I would relocate the new one for easier access and abandon the old one ..

We're talking on the back behind the intake manifold right? A stubby box end wrench should take care of that easy enough, just approach from the back.

Crowsfeet too shallow an offset, stubby box ends too long, so I need to have your grandfather. Guess I'm just gonna have to build one. Thanks for the responses.
