Now I do have something that is important to talk about. Seriously, listen up, this is really important..... I just discovered this forum is lacking a "head slap" smilie. We've got to do something about that.

Wrong again. My Ecoboost is the one that will be loafing when the 5.4L is at max effort. All engines wear out eventually and the harder you run them the quicker they wear out. You'd have to drive a 5.4L like a bat out of hell trying to keep up with me, and it still won't keep up, but it will go to the graveyard first while trying. You can't run a 5.4L the way I can run my Ecoboost. Dream on, boy!
i would like to talk to some one with some kowledge.
yes we need a head slap.
5.4 did not have turbo or 6 spd tran. still ran one over 220k let me know when you get there.BANG

The 5.4L got the 6-speed transmission for the '09-'10 model years.

I liked my 5.4s & do agree they needed a 6 speed transmission. The 3.5 EB is a very nice setup. I'm hoping there is a EB w/ 10 speed in my future.

Yes, this is the kind of hardcore research that we need around here. I would have never believed a modern F150 could have gone 100K miles if you hadn't proved it.

And I am astonished by your inability to resolve the obvious for yourself. You haven't even asked a question yet that requires knowledge to answer.

So let's get down to brass tacks. You don't want an Ecoboost; you have a pre-disposed opinion it is problematic; and the questions that you do ask are only thinly disguised statements, not questions. So what's the end game here, bud?

Ok guys, looking for some advice here. 2013 ECOBOOST 4x4 with 80k miles. Timing chain rattles like crazy upon initial start up, but thats not the problem. The motor has started knocking and I am being told its the #2 cylinder on the passenger side and I need a new motor. My purchasing dealership told me I was out of warranty (the truck is out by 20k) and my local dealership is unwilling to help since I didnt buy it from them. I understand that things go bad sometimes with trucks, but the complete lack of assistance at all has me very frustrated. I bought the truck new in Feb of 14' and now the motor is shot! Pulling my hair out here......

You'll get better visibility by making your own thread in this same section.

Regarding getting assistance with the fix, it sounds like it is time to appeal to Ford directly since the dealer will not represent you (or not represent you well enough).

Thank you for the response . Ill get a new one started!

I have contacted fords customer service. Guy was very understanding and issued me a case number for the problem. This is where the local dealer is unwilling to do anything.

I apologize if this has been discussed and I missed it. Has anyone had issues with excessive oil consumption in their Ecoboost?

Last winter after using my 4x4 quite a lot, I used some oil but none since.

I never had to add any. The oil level does go down on the stick but it's always above the add mark.

Does anyone know what the Ford solution was to the condensation inside the intercooler issue. I'd rather not drill a 1/16" hole in the bottom of my intercooler if not necessary.

I didn't hear about ford making any changes to anything to reduce this issue. But on the other hand, I haven't heard about that many folks who have seen this cause them any driveability issues. So . . . ?

Correct me if I am wrong, but the air in the intercooler is already metered. If so, then the 12 psi of post turbo compressed air pressure cooling off in the intercooler is now also leaking out of that 1/16" hole. This is going to affect the fuel/air mixture of the engine, is it not?

A 1/16th hole isn't much bigger than a pencil lead but it's enough to allow some moisture to weep out. It doesn't take much moisture to foul things up a bit.

I drilled mine about 6 months ago, nothing really came when I drilled it out but I can see where there's a small oily stain on the inside of the air dam. Most likely that's occurring when I stomp on it. Mine is performing the same after drilling the hole as it did before, same MPG's, same power.
