Well UPS is out with my items, also weht behind the doors to my truck (after stopping at best buy to pick up a couple grey wire harness adapters, as I wanted to get the truck prepped for the speaker install so I could have this done smoothly only to find that I truly do have the grey adapters, so I just went to the mustang which has the same type now, and used those, also called crutchfield and talked to Lefty and he got me set up right away with the correct ones to come out and didn't really make a stink about the situation it was just "what your address and phone number, and the part number you need? Ok we will get it to you friday" boom done! WOW! that is good service right there...

anyways I went a head with the install as I now obviously had all the parts hehe and got the truck nice and squared away and well WOW is all I can say as the speakers are SOOOOOOOO much cleanner sounding, no more brrrrrrrrrp...brrrrrrrrrp...brrrrrrrrrp...brrrrrrr rrp...when playing my music hitting the low and mid notes, its an audio pleasure to the ears, and the bass seems to hit better too, so excited to take the truck on long tripe now! next will be the head unit with sat nav built in and then well onto the Mustang....or vice versa...hard to say..., but I just sat in the truck and loved how it sounded, and yes I tested each cpeaker after install to confirm working status.

What I used were 4-way speakers and I don't notice too much difference from the stock speakers (other then the more crisp sounds) but I am very happy with how it all went in!

What I used

the door panle removed revealing the 16 year old stockie speaker that was ready to end its service life

New adapter harness (from Best Buy) installed

the speakers that I am using 4Ohm speakers (which oddly the factory ones were also labled as 4 OHM speakers)

The first new speaker is installed, he is already sounding better then stock...

attacking the passenger door front speaker, which honestly was the worst of the 4 making undesireable noises as the music played

even more speaker mess going on in the rear doors, which wern't as bad hoinestly, just had to remove two panles instead of one...

and Honestly how I feel seeing the UPS truck rolling up to my house...

Not sure how good the quality of the video will be as this was recorded with my phone, might be better to use my camcorder...

Replacing the factory speakers will almost always result in better sound. Especially if they're 16 years old! I put new speakers in my 08 when I got it last year. Yes, it made a noticeable difference.

now to just get the other harnesses in from crutchfield and start on the audio update with the stang...but I think I will hold onto those speakers as they seem to be pretty decient still as far as stock factory speakers go

Well I got bored and went out to the truck and tightened down that IPR which has seemed to help the truck with starting some, and also replaced the 16+ year old ICP (think thats the name of it, its the one that sits on the head of the block) and the truck seems to fire up a lot quicker then it was which was about 8 or so seconds of hard cranking, where it seems to be around 5 or less...I assume it is mainly a pressure build thing but even after its sitting for a few days it almost instantly fires off I am sooo happy

Yes it feels like an also like new truck now, and I do remember when these trucks first came out too...

Also looking at getting Amazon.com: Joying JY-UQ124 Android 4.4.4 Car Stereo with GPS Navigation Hd Capacitive Muti Touch Screen: GPS & Navigation and Amazon.com: Axxess BT-1771 T-Harness Integrates Bluetooth Kits with Factory Stereos-In 1998-Up Ford/Lincoln/Mazda/Mercury/Nissan Vehicles: Car Electronics with in the next few weeks possibly as I found (thanks to another forum member) a way to hack/crack the ROM on the unit to get it a bit more functional and lower the boot times...

However for $100 more ($300.00) I can get the more or less same unit with Android 5.1.1 or Lollypop instead of Kitkat which is 4.4.4 anyways time to decide, but who knows I might be able to take the other unit with 4.4.4 and update it to the 5.1 Lollypop...

Well even though I should have probabibly waited I went a head and ordered the Joying JY-UQ124 unit today, so hope to have it in hand by the 24th...now that I found a good app to shut down all non essential items I figure why not...the tablet while good is starting to prove to me that its maybe not as useful as I had hoped it to be...oh well...

Well I went a head and pulled every thing apart to prepare for the new Joying unit to go in the dash...and then work called....yea I think you guys can see where this went real fast...oh well threw every thing together, and said hell with it and tossed the original tape deck player in just for now to get the truck running (and so I can at least listen to something) at least I have one of those SD card wireless transmitters to use (I keep it for when I have to drive our vans as they are not as upgraded as my truck hehe). Hope to have my package by end of the day and when I get home I plan to take some pictures...stay tuned!

Well the UPS guy brought in my packages to day, yay! However due to dremmel action being required I will sadly have to wait until the weekend or a day off...

Played with the unit some and like what I was able to do with it so far, bought it for the GPS nav bit and the USB player ability mainly, but looks like it will have more to do, just need to figure out how to get Torque to cooperate and work but once I get past that I think I will be good to go...Now is a time when I wish I had a few fellow FTE members in the area to help out with the install part...oh well...

Well so far I got the dash trimmed up, even smoothed it all out, almost forgot about the two stupid screws but meh, got them out so I hope things will start falling into place more, now to just wait until Thursday...UUUG hate having only one day a week off but got to reload the Buck$Zooka ammo in both the pistol and the ammo rack, and replace the clip that was used for the joying unit, and all four speakers for the truck plus the four sets of wire hanrness adapters for the speakers (two for the Mustang and two for the truck) so yea...more like machine gun ammo can going in I suppose....but meh...next will be the mustang and getting it up and running, may just stick with a basic nav unit there....like Clarion or Jensen or even Planet Audio.

Well I decided after having the Enigma for however long I have it was time to get rid of that banged up tail pipe and give him some bling...so for $25 I got an exhaust tip (though I am not sure about the length it sticks out, but the mirrors do stick out even further) and about $5 more I got a metal cutting blade for my sawzall, so for about $30 or so you can spiff up that old boring tail pipe...

well been a bit of time since I did any thing, but I busted a brake line (metal one rusted out) and busted it all over the fuel tank, went and got that all sorted out with new lines and brake bleed, for $134 so all feels good with the brakes now

Well had some more time to work on my girl, course the cancer is making me wounder but meh, I continued on and installed a 140amp alt, took all of 10 min with my air tools and hand tools

Truck runs smoothly

Also took my faithful companion for a ride and he still loves it!

Only thing I need to figure out is how to get the pully swapped off the old alt to the new, any ideas or thoughts?

Usually it's done with a 1/2" impact. I can't see a reason to change though. I just swapped the same Alt in my truck and it charges fully at idle so, the pulley it came with is fine. My .02

Great looking dog btw!
