My spine was damaged in an IED blast in Iraq a few years ago and my truck is getting harder and harder to drive. It sends every little bump up me. It looks like I have the original shocks on there.
What do you guys recommend for shocks or possibly seat upgrades or any other possible solutions. I love my truck and don't want have to get something else.
The most I haul is my jeep on a trailer and occasionally two jeeps (8000lbs)
The hi dollar Rancho shocks I have are adjustable, setting 1 is pretty darn soft.
Better bet might be new seat cushion. A good shop can set you up with something softer. Or even seats from a different vehicle, if you noticed any you like recently.
When I am not towing I air all 4 tires down to 55. That tames some bumps and I still get even tire wear. Running 285 Bridgestone Revo 2.
These things ride hard no two ways around it. Hopefully some combination of shocks/seat/air pressure will be good.
Yeah cause the ram has front coil springs. And we're still riding on leafs.
I've heard great reviews from people who replaced their seat foam.
A suspension shop can build you new leafs that have a much softer spring rate but will still hold the weight. (More leafs per pack). But thats getting up there in $$$$ range where you might reconsider keeping the truck.
I am bracing for a Buck$Zooka round square in "Stinky's" nose - the leaf springs are sagging. The distance to the bump stop is supposed to be about 4", where Stinky has 2" up there. His flat front springs are also knocking on bumps, so the spacers are shot. New springs and maybe some two-stage Fox shocks might get the ride a bit more civil, but I doubt these 4-ton bricks on leafs will ever ride like anything with coil springs. You may very well be forced into revisiting ownership of such a beast.
Saying that - I know somebody who put an OTR truck seat (with an air suspension) in his F550 to tame the beast, and it works quite well.
like mentioned lower air pressures, lighter duty shocks my Rancho 9000 shocks on lowest setting are still stiffer than the lighter duty shocks I pulled, experiment with a removable seat cushion, then with the more expensive things to try, seat modifications or replacement & lighter leaf springs,or coil spring mod which I don't think is practical.
