351 v8 vs 300 i6 engine perches

I have a 78 f150 4x4 that came with a 351 v8. I bought it without an engine but I have a 1977 300i6 that I’m going to put in it. Can I use the engine perches that are bolted to the frame for the 351 or do I need different ones for the inline 6?

You'll need perches from a 73-79 Ford truck 4wd frame with either a 300 I6, 360, or 390 in it. No others will work.

I found one for sale but it’s of a 2wd f250, will that work or does it have to be 4wd to fit on my 4x4

Yes it must be a 4wd. The 2wd are a different breed.

Also I see the frame you purchased has a standard transmission cab. If you're going to go with that and your 300 I6 motor you'll need a SBF bellhousing. So while you're out there looking for perches pick up one of those too. The radiator is different too the top radiator inlet is on the opposite side then the radiator for the 351M.

Edit: I'm including a pic of the plate that goes between the bellhousing and the motor. You'll need one of these and the clutch fork, whoever you get the bell housing from most likely will have these parts too. Use the pic to I.D. the SBF bellhousing you'll need by the bolt pattern in the pic below. If you take a picture of your 300 I6 at the back that shows the bolt pattern on the back end of the crank we can get started on IDing what flyheel you'll need.

I don’t know if this would affect what you previously said, but when I bought the f150 4x4, I bought it without an engine, trans, or transfer case. I only know that the 351 was in it bc that’s what the previous owner told me and when I ran the vin on the frame that’s what it said. The inline 6 that I’m going to put in it is from 1975 and was previously swapped into a 79 bronco. It had a new process 435 transmission and a new process 205 transfer case behind it. I’m wondering if the bell housing was already replaced to what I need. I can’t really get a good pic of the back of the engine because it’s on a stand at the moment.

The flywheel is already on the motor and the bellhousing with clutch is attached to the transfer case, So if the clutch fork is there and the adjustment rod you;re golden. I don't see the plate that I posted in post #5?

the plate is in the first pic inbetween the engine and the engine stand. It is not the same as what you posted

I didn't see it either until you said it. But I see the starter ring now.

You asked about the bellhousing. You need a Windsor bellhousing. If it was bolted up to that engine, then it's correct.

that will work. Do you have the shifters for both the transffer case and transmission? The fork must be there with the throw out bearing behind the clutch . Is the pressure plate there?

Yes I have everything from when I disassembled it and it drove before that.
