04 Explorer - 3rd Row Stuck

hello all, I'm new to ford and this forum. I searched before posting and didn't find the answer so if this is a repost I apologize in advance.

I have a new to me 2004 Explorer XLT. The third row seats are stuck in the folded down position. They are not powered.

From what I can tell, the latch only controls one side of the seat folding mechanism and the "wire" or cable has come undone from the other side.

Now I would love to get some insight on how to tackle this before I go poking around and end up scarring or breaking something, know what I mean?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hmmm, I had the 3rd row seat out of my 2004 to get to the subwoofer in the rear. Unfortunately I don't recall the specifics as to how accessible it would be without being able to fold it up. I'll do some more digging through my files to try to locate the photos I took along the way.

I checked the factory service manual but unfortunately it doesn't mention how to access the 3rd seat backrest internals without first removing the backrest from the truck and that requires (according to the instructions) first raising the backrest.
