2015-16 Gas and Diesel Mileage F250

Was looking at 15 and 16s and was wondering what the mileage difference is between the 6.2 and 6.7? I know there are a lot of variables. I'm looking at 250 crew cabs with a short bed and 4X4.

I heard that with the 6.2 gas I might only get 8-10 MPG where with the diesel I might get up to 17-18 while not towing.

My 6.2 gets between 12 to 14mpg all around and with a 1000lb payload. On a 800 mile trip I just averaged 16 mpg with very little stop and go driving. I'm happy with that!

2015 F250 regular cab, gas engine, 4wd, auto, 3:73 gears, base model, 72500 miles. Has a heavy aftermarket lift gate on it & a couple hundred pounds of tools in the bed & cab. Gets between 15 & 16 if strictly on the highway at 65 to 70 MPH. Towing between 5000 & 10,000 pounds, 10 to 12 MPG on the highway, lots of foot to the floor time to try & keep up with traffic on SW Pennsylvania's hills. 9-10 around town towing the same weight. Worst tank was about 7.5 MPG. I usually lock out 6th on the highway, it just can't pull it with a load. I put 150 highway miles on today, half with 500 extra pounds in the bed, 15.6 MPG.

I do drive it fairly hard, lots of foot to the floor time. The 6.2 is sort of gutless, not enough bottom end for me. So, you have to rev it like crazy to get to the power. It sees a lot of 5000+ rpm time. But, it hasn't blown apart yet, although it does make some rattling noises when first started.

One of the big differences between the 6.2 and 6.7 is the horsepower and torque plus the torque curve. I prefer the torque of the 6.7 which makes towing and hauling a breeze. While, like most others, I want the best mileage possible. My mileage is about the same around town as it was with my 7.3. On the road empty it is only slightly less. Towing, it is about the same - but I can keep up with traffic and not slow down on the hills. However, the 7.3 had a 3.73 rear end and my 6.7 has a 4.30. Thus it is not a direct comparison. My '11 F-450 is the best towing truck I have ever owned. It doesn't get the mpg of a Prius; but a Prius won't tow an 18K FW or a 21K gooseneck.

6.2 '15 CC 6 3/4bed 4x4.

Mostly around town under 50, I am upper 12s low 13 sometimes. 700 miles to the beach, soft bed cover and 70-75 most of the time and I was in the low 16s.

Pulling the ski boat I don't notice much change on mileage. Haven't pulled anything bigger. And this is in the hills of East tn.

I have the 6.2 gasser. I get 13-14 going to work. Get 10-11 towing my 7500 camper#. The 6.2 screams when going up inclines when towing. I'm going with the 6.7 next time around, just because I've never had a diesel before If you are towing heavy (10K+) all the time, definitely get the 6.7.

I feel comfortable towing my camper in the mountains where we live, over 8,000' elevation. If you are at sea level, even better!

2015 cc,6.7 fx4 long bed, 3.31 gears. if i fill up on a side of the highway station and run down the freeway at around 75, i get just shy of 20 empty. In town mileage drops drastically and can be around 14 or 15 if i am heavy on the throttle. Pulling mpg can be as low as 11 and as high as 14 for my enclosed toyhauler which is around 9000k loaded. I keep pretty good track of the economy each tankful by calculating fuel vs mileage. The computer is usually within a tenth of what the actual is. I have stock 17"wheels and bfg at tires...no lift

I saw 14 mpg once or twice in my 2011 6.2 SCAB, LB. After I put a cap, RH Grill Guard, and some A/T tires on, I never saw much better than 13 mpg, 7-9 towing my 8000 lb camper. The truck in my signature gets 15-16 mix driving, and 10-12 towing the same camper.

Had the 'bus' for about 5 months now and put 8k on the clock.

Avg around town and on my daily is 14'ish and on Hwy trips I can see 16.5mpg as long as I keep it under 70. Towing my open car trailer (about 6,500lbs trailer weight, 3 ppl, and tools, etc in the bed) I'm seeing around 11mpg, though that was going through PA, so it wasn't flat. I'm towing from South Jersey to Myrtle Beach SC this weekend and back the following, so I should get a better idea of what it'll do on a long, flat tow.

Either way it seems that I will not be doing worse than my 99 F150 Supercab 4X4 with the 5.4 and 3.55 gears. The best I ever got with it was 14 MPG but never bothered to track while towing the trailer. We are a family of 4 + a Lab and I have a 27' TT with a 5,200 dry weight.

I would like to see more on the diesels though. Might be worth it on my 40 mile commute to work. It can be had with 3.31, 3.55,3.73 & 4.30

This good to here. I get 12-13 on the highway and 8-10 in town with my F150.

2013 F350 CC SB FX4 Lariat package on factory 20's with 49k. My average is 14 on every tank. On the freeway on cruise control at 65-70 I can get 17-20 unloaded depending on Hills. I e gotten it to 20 plus on flat highways at 60.
On the streets it does from 12-15 depending on traffic and how hard I want to take off.
I've towed my dump trailer but didn't watch the MPG but it averaged out my tank at 14.
The 6.7 gets equal or better highway mileage than my tacoma 4 banger.

As of late my F350 6.7 Dually 3:73 4x4 with Ranch Hand grille guard, headache rack and a 40gal aux tank in the bed has been seeing mostly in town use. The MPG O METER is showing a steady 13.5

I really need to get it out on the open road and get a few hundred miles of highway speed use on her soon.
