Does Ford have built in speed limiter on Trucks

I have a 2001 F53 chassis with a V10. Does anyone know if Ford implemented a speed restriction or limit in the ECM or PCM .

If there is a "speed Limiter" parameter or setting, is it possible to remove or change it?

my 02 F250-V10 will go to about 97mph and then it feels like the fuel is just shut down until speed lowers.

not sure if can be changed with tuner or not

I'm sure some one on here will know though.

I wouldn't want someone going 120 or faster in a 7 to 8K super duty.

EAZMO - could it be an engine RPM limiter kicking in or do you think it might be a speed limiter?

Welcome to FTE btw

Maybe a rev limiter, doubtful that can easily be toggled. Why would you want to, is the question. 100 mph is plenty in any kind of scenario, imo.

Yes, a tuner will change that...

I have my 6.0 set at 149 mph

I know for a fact that there is both an engine speed limiter and a vehicle speed limiter.

Mark, Thanks

This question came up on a motorhome forum. Its an F53 chassis. You wouldn't happen to know what the setting is for that particular chassis would you?

Personally, I have no intention of doing much over 65, but I think its a good question.

There's a limiter for a reason, speed rating on the tires is a safety concern, especially if the chassis is under an RV body that gets a lot closer to maxing out the load index on the tires. The thing can probably go 120mph, but the question then becomes how many barrel rolls before you stop when a tire blows. Lot's of weight up high plus a blowout is a bad situation.

My 2012 has the My Key option and I've got the admin key and a restricted key to 80. I wish it could be set to 75!

I only went that fast one time
I'm sure its was speed that triggered it because as soon as it slowed a bit BAM she pulling hard again until it hit that 97 mark again and continued on/off/on/off within about a 5mph up/down.
