David, tough decision but you need to make the one that will make you happy. Sounds like your current boss could care less and just "uses" everyone. That would bother me and make me strongly consider leaving and finding different employment.

Yea boss is giving me sheet already about leaving, we have a lot of work going on now, but that's not my problem let the Ecuadorians do it, if they can, They seem to know everything anyway, lets see if they really do. Oh yea Jim, Got a call back from Coast Cities, all 3 managers were happy with me and made a pretty good offer that I really have to think about. Monday thru Friday 8:30 to 4:30, overtime if I want, @ time and a half. $25.50 an hour, 401k, Full Benefiets just for me. Got to let them know today. I get Vacation, sick time, personal days a real business. No road calls, no mud everywhere, poison ivy, Just have to pass a pee test and they want me. I gotta think hard. Straight time I will be making a bit less, cause I'm off the books here for a portion of my pay, but no bennies, pension, nothing, no raises, guy's have been here for 15 years and hasn't had a raise yet. His thinking is you don't like it leave. He takes advantage of the mexicians and Ecuadorians, they dont know better and it's not right. Gotta do something.
Man, that sounds like an offer that will be tough to pass up! Those bennies are worth a lot an hour, so you will probably be out ahead if you include those. Good luck with your decision, bud!

Neil I feel the same way you do. But he pay's well and with 2 kids in college and a mortgage payment that money is priority right now. I would love to work for Coast Cities, they have been in buisness for 70 years, same location, a few additions along the way and its a professional shop, everything gets fixed right. My skimppy budget here, I can't even get tire plugs. He would be in a bad jam if I left him now. Laborers he get's new guy's every couple day's, works them to death and they leave, what he pays them aint worth it and they catch on quick. Out of 35-40 men only 7 or 8 have been here for the long run, but they have there licences, CDL's and are good workers, but there not stuiped either, I'm on the clock typing on FTE , every chance I get. That's how the game is played here. He checks in the morning and he is gone for the rest of the day. I clean my tools, tool box, jerk around, do the least amount I can. I am not killing my self for this selfish Jewish father handed the buisiness down guy. The gut's I like I take care of, he had all the radio's disconnected, and the A/C broken, he thinks they will sit in the trucks if the air and radio's were going. So I fixed the trucks for the guy's I know that bust there *** and just want to get the job done. 2 Quit today, so he puts an ad on Craig's list and what do you get there? Crap. I'm in a jam.

Yea Pat after Obummercare kicked in I was paying $230 a month for my policy now after the new year I'm up to $580 for the same exact company and policy with higher copays, higher deductables, more prescriptions. This isn't what he promissed us. you start adding that in and it does come close. I don't know what insurance it is. My doctor only takes the PPO or something like that, you got to have the right type now, it's insane what they did to the healthcare system. But we have to pass the bill first so you know whats in it.
