Looking to buy an old 460
Hey guys, another newbie here, I'm currently driving a 2008 gmc duramax, but I know a few people who have classic trucks, one of which has a 1978 F-350 with the 460 engine, which really started me wanting to search for a truck of similar / older generations with the same thing under the hood.
My question is where is a good place to start looking for an old Ford, and if I found something that has less, what's a good way to acquire the above engine, and other parts? Also how much are parts on average for the drivetrain and such?
I've done a bit of research and searching over the past 2 weeks and have only really figured out I want a Ford and I want the big 460 in it. I heard a while ago a good way to go is to buy an old motorhome for super cheap with said engine and then scrap the motorhome, but I can't really remember

"Classic" imo includes nothing from the 1970s....but, if you are going there, just seek out a truck with a 460 as OEM. Millions served.
If you are going older and are going to install one, any pillow barge or pickup motor will do. You may have to change the heads to get any real power out of some of them, but going through the motor is almost a given anyway and it's lots of fun.
Google "460 Ford conversion kit" or similar and find a billion hits including:
