Door glass swap

I had recently bought a 2012 F150 Screw 4x4 ecoboost for a decent price. Unfortunately the more I get into it the more I realize it was worked hard. I should have offered a grand less than what I paid for it but at least KBB trade in is more than what I paid for it so I don't feel too bad. Those oil field trucks in Alberta get abused. I was planning on dumping it in a year but in the meantime it needs some improvements.

All four side windows are scratched. I tried removing the scratches with Cerium Oxide. No dice. I went to the local speedy glass and got a quote to swap out all the glass. $852. Ouch. I then started looking on ebay for side glass. I found all the glass on ebay for $280. I was hesitant to buy all four windows without having an exact idea on the complexities in swapping out the glass. So I bought the passenger rear glass first to see what I was getting myself into.

I couldn't really find any solid instructions or videos on removing the old glass and putting in the new glass. I didn't know if I needed retaining clips and if the clips had to be glued to the glass. I figured if I got the passenger rear door torn apart and couldn't figure it out I would just take it into the glass shop.

I removed the rear door panel and examined what I had. Wow is the term used because all that was required was to loosen two 10mm bolts and remove the rubber channel on the door and the old glass came out. It was literally a 30 to 45 minute job. I immediately ordered the glass for the rest of the doors. I can only assume the front doors will be a little more difficult than the back doors. The only injury incurred was when I cut myself unpacking the glass. I will post pics of the install of the other glass when I get them.

Sorry for the long and winding post so cliff notes version is this: If you need to change out the side glass on your f150, don't feel intimidated. If you can take off the door panel then you can change out the glass.
