difficulty trying to sell 2000 7.3 F350
I have a 2000 F350 Superduty, this truck mechanically is perfect, almost everything underneath has been replaced, body is ok, except for rust on the cab corners, new bed and rear bumper.
lots of replacements under the hood.
Pillar gages 4inch exhaust, tuner, wicked wheel, new batteries, supintine belt and pullys, steering box, injectors and injector harness. alternator, the replacements just keep going on.
My price is $10,000 and I have a snow plow to go with it if the new owner wants it. I think this is a fair price due to the upgrades, yet I can't get a bite!
Thinking about going to the Diesel show tomorrow and putting a sign in the window while I'm there, also taking it to the County Fair in a Couple of weeks to see if any kids might want it, any suggestions, I really don't need this truck anymore, I have 2 new F350's now one a 2012, Lariat, and a 2015 work truck that I can use for please if I want, both of these trucks are crew cabs. I don't want to just give the f250 away, I have way too much money in it, cutting my losses at 10K.
How many 2000 F350 trucks out there are mechanically free is issues of some kind?

The truck is not worth that much, parts recently replaced don't increase the value. Also any additions, like lifts, non-oem rims actually reduce the value. You have 10k in the truck, but you used it for years. I just bought a 2000 Crewcab dually with no rust and I paid 5,500 from a dealer. It does need some items, like seat covers, fender liner, and I just bought 3 tires. I think that since the 6.7 has shown that it is a good motor, people have more options for a reliable truck.

From the sounds of your post your not a broke azz, my time is worth much more than trying to sell a used car. I usually just wholesale my cars or trade them in at a dealer 10 minutes of your time and your done. Without seeing a pic of your truck this is difficult for us to give you comps. In my opinion, if it's so difficult to find a buyer it's time to either lower your price and be done with it or donate it and use that as a tax deduction based on your full asking price. Just my .02

I searched for months for a good used super duty (or Chev/Dodge), but I kept finding asking prices like yours. I wound up purchasing (from a dealer) a model year 14 for 38K out the door.
Then, after another month of no bites on my (good condition/no rust, one bent bedside fender, 02 F250 V10 - asking 5K) old tow vehicle I gave it to a stealer towards purchasing a better grocery getter. On paper I may have gotten 4-5K for it, but I think in reality it was under 3K. It hurt my feelings but that's life and I no longer have to mess with it.
I personally would not bid over 5K for a 15 year old truck, regardless of how good it may be claimed to be.

The reality of pricing, no matter what it is, is something is only worth as much as you can sell it for so there is really no such thing as a "fair price". Book prices sound good, but they tend to be widely inaccurate given they generally based on the prices of units held by dealers and the majority of used sales are by private parties, after the first two years.
When something doesn't sell, all you can do is drop the price until it does. There may well be a buyer at every price, but it sure can take a long time to find that special one.

Obviously, if you have no bites at $10k, you are over pricing the truck. Just because you are "cutting your losses" doesn't mean it's worth what you're asking.
Of course a lot of it is what area you are in.
Went looking for a good condition dually last year for a truck to run a small landscaping side business I started with a buddy. Wanted either a 7.3 Powerstroke or 5.9 Cummins.
I quickly found out I could forget the CTDs. They are so in demand around here people asking, and getting, $12,000+ for trucks literally falling apart around solid running engines. Good shape, no rust, 15 year old Rams with 250,000 miles going for $20,000. Which is crazy because for $40k you can get into a new, no frills basic work truck diesel.
Ended up finding a 2001 2WD Powerstroke dually, 186,000 miles, darn good shape, one smallish ding, driver seat leather was toast and neither rear door open but not a spec of rust.
Private seller, nice 74 year old original owner was asking $14,000. We got him to $12,500 and took it.
So yeah, in my area, if the truck is in the shape you say, you'd probably get your $10,000...

My dad just traded in his 2000 F350 crew cab short bed 4x4 7.3 a few months ago. Everything worked, like showroom interior (no smokers , leather had waterproof covers since day one) only rust on the entire truck was drivers side wheel well (bubbles) he caught to get 11,500.00 trade at our dealer who we've been using for almost forty years. Truck sold a week later for 14,500.00 and all the dealer did was put a sticker in the window... In my area in NJ and surrounding states a clean 7.3 like my dads go for 12-18k all day long, even rotted out ones with over 180k go for 8k plus

I am in the same boat on a 2003 6.0 that has a 2005 motor. paid $4,000 and put another $2000 in brakes, AC pump and misc. Looks really good, but has 335,000 miles on the chassis. Truck is in better shape than almost all the 2005-2007 trucks I have been looking at on the lots. asking $7950, just two calls, looks like I will just trade it in.
The thing I found interesting when looked at values on KBB.com the trade in value was real close to the private party price. Seems everyone wants to buy from a dealer so they can trade in there rig and get help financing.

Plus snowplow mounts means the suspension and steering links are questionable at best, new parts underneath only partially makes up for having had a plow in it, they defiantly don't add any value.

Although I am not a professional sales person, I do dabble selling used RVs that I fix up and when they don't sell, I gradually ratchet the price down a little at a time every week or two until it sells. No matter what I think something is worth, if I can't sell it for that much, it is not worth what I think it is.
One things for sure, when selling appearance is everything!
