How does the @#&* hood latch return spring go?
It's always the simple stuff. This winter I rebuilt a small block Chevy, when I got it back together all I had to do was turn the distributer a few degrees and away we went. Winter before that I had both heads and all four cam shafts out of the motorcycle. Buttoned it up and it ran like a champ.
Then this morning I just spent 2 hours trying to figure out how one stupid little spring goes on the hood latch of the 49. It's the return spring that returns the opening handle (doubles as the right side hood trim) to the "resting" position.
What's worse, I have a sort of drawing of it. Not a good drawing but enough to determine that the spring goes on the top end of the handle pin. At some point I would have thought that I would solve it just by eventually trying every possible combination.
So here I am, asking some kind soul to snap a picture under the hood so I can get my Pandora's box put back together.

I'm 2 for three, still haven't got the other spring installed yet. Here is some info given to me.
In my first picture I had the springs swapped.
