1979 F150 emissions stuff

I recently bought a 1979 F150 Supercab and noticed that on the engine description sticker it passes California emissions regulations - I don't live in Cali! What can I remove but still pass EPA regulations.

I have a Hayes repair manual but they seem to be very generic. I'm looking for specific answers - if possible.

it all depends on how they do an emission test where you live. do they check for all factory pollution equipment is still intact? or do they just put the sniffer in?

the sticker does'nt mean a thing, it does not have any "extra" pollution equipment that you can take off if you don't live or do california emission test's

I'm in St. Louis and all they do is the sniffer test.

If they do a visual they will be looking for all of the parts that are on the sticker.

I live in KC and I am real glad they don't do that stuff over here yet.

well then Redone if all they do is a sniffer test and you are sure of that you can peel off most of that polution equipment.
i took my truck in when it had the 400 in it and all they did was a sniffer also. i had the air pump, 2 converters and all the other pollution stuff still intact. it passed fine but i did not need it for testing as they did not look to see if it was there. i am hoping they do the same when it comes time to check the 429 because there is'nt any pollution stuff on it

What they have done here in St. Louis is kind of nice. The MODOT built emission testing facilities through the county. This allows the vehicle owners to drive right up and they plug up a sniffer and run the car or truck for a few minutes and you're done. It usually takes 15 minutes or so. Or they even have mobile vehicles setup throught the main interstates that test your vehicle has you drive past them. At least two tests are done and the average taken from them to determine wether you pass or fall.

I have an emission test coming up pretty soon so I think I'm going to what until after the test before I start pulling anything. The guy I just bought it from said (and I trust him - good friend) that it passed last years test with flying colors.

If I remove the vapor canister and it's related components will this effect my performance? I don't think it should. I might keep the air injector stuff simply because I read somewhere in the repair manual it helps with keeping the engine temperature down. I know I can solve this with an aftermarket flex fan or an electric one or a new thermostat but I have a classic Mustang that I need to finish restoring before I can spend any real money on the truck.
