Why are the Ford Dealership's Service Departments so busy?

Yesterday I tried to take my 2011 F250 in to two different dealerships to have a problem with my A/C repaired under the Ford Extended Warranty I purchased.

Both dealers said they couldn't help me, but they could schedule me an appointment in Mid-July.

So I'm suppose to drive around with no A/C in this 100 degree weather until Mid-July??

Anyone have any ideas on what to do?

Maybe try more dealerships? There's one on just about every corner.

It is an odd thing I think. Haven't really had that problem. What I hate more is the dealers who go ahead and take it in, knowing they won't get to it until mid-July, and won't admit it.

One other thing...is it a diesel?

I've noticed that if it is a diesel, they have fewer techs that can work on it. Even though it has nothing to do with the engine, it is attached to the engine, and I guess that makes us special. The diesel trained guys are always in higher demand.

Might be that extended warranty too?
Not sure they can make nearly as much money when they have to repair extended warranty work.
Push it back and hope they go somewhere else.

Would the same dealership have plenty of capacity for non-warranty work?

During the economic downturn, FoMoCo shuttered 22 'unproductive' Ford & L/M dealerships in LA & Orange Counties, CA DMV shut down two others.

So, it's not like the old days when there seemed to be a dealership on every corner.

For example, if you live in Whittier, the closest Ford dealer is either in the City of Industry or Buena Park, as the dealers in Whittier, Downey and La Habra have gone bye bye.

Which dealers were they ? Nice to know where the boneheads are ... Now watch me contradict myself... I've had good luck with Sunrise in Fontana.
