4.0 ohv x overheating problem to rebuild
I had a overheating problem didnt over heat it much and i put the bluedevil headgasket stuff in cause the water was in the exaust and after i added the bluedevil it went away now 2 or 3 months later it overheated again never hitting the red mark and started leaking out the exaust and mixing water and oil. Any pointers on what i should be looking for cause im tearing the motor down to replace all gaskets and also i noticed when i removed the vavle covers each side had one loose pushrod. And before i started tearing the motor apart i tried the bluedevil stuff and didn't seem to work as good as the first time and after changing the oil it created a knock/ticking sound too. I reved it up and it went away drove for a few miles and slowly came back

Sorry to say that if you overheated it, there is also a real chance you will have cracked the heads between the intake and exhaust valves, as the original castings were very prone to that. Make sure you check them well.
The loose pushrods could suggest a wiped out cam lobe or collapsed lifter (neither is common), ...or a badly worn rocker arm (lot more likely). 4.0 OHV stock rocker arms have a reputation for rapid wear as they were apparently made of steel much too soft for the task... If you look at both ends of the rocker arms, you may find significant wear. The "flat" that rides on the valve stem might have a very visible indentation.
As I understand it, get the best gaskets you can or expect oil leaks in short order.
Not sure what to say about the Bluedevil sealer... any port in a storm I suppose, but you might need special cleaning to remove it from the system now.
Good luck with the rebuild.
