Stock tranny cooler inlet/outlet and 6.0 tranny cooler conversion questions

Wich lines on a stock 7.3 with e40d tranny cooler is the inlet and Wich is the exit? Is the top line the inlet on the stock cooler or the bottom one? Also I got a 6.0 tranny cooler off ebay, but there's no makings on it to wich side is the inlet and the exit? Any way for me to tell? Thanks.

Go down to the trans. The front line is the output.trace from there.the new cooler does not nessarily have a set in/out. Just make sure you plumb it after the rad cooler.

How do I plumb it in after the rad? I was just gonna take off the trans cooler lines and extend them to the new rad cooler. Do u mean physically furthest to the front of the truck?

Yes, the line physically closest to the front of the vehicle is the transmission fluid output line.

Is that to warm up the line? I'm confused about the reason to send trans line into a hot radiator then to a trans cooler except to warm up the fluid when it is cold.

Also what kind of hose is needed? Mine is old and I'm replacing all rubber everywhere. Do I just use oil line from the Auto parts store?

The radiator cooler never warms the transmission fluid. I've tested this in ambient temperatures from -40 to +115F.

The trans fluid leaving the trans is HOT. The radiator cooler is on the "cold" side of the radiator. The temperature in this part of the radiator is anywhere from 15F to over 100F cooler than engine temperature. That's plenty cold enough to cool the trans fluid. This is a very efficient cooler, if you remove it you lose a lot of cooling capacity.

So in stock form the trans is cooled.by the radator and a small radator in front of the regular radiator. Im removing the small one and adding the 6.0 cooler

Yes, that's correct, and the 6.0L cooler is a good move.
