1993 Ranger Bad proportion vale

Hi, my friend has a 93 single cab 2.3 4cyl auto trans 2wd Ranger. the proportion valve is bad because i'm BARELY getting any brake fluid out of the back of it going to the rear brakes. They want $665 at the dealer for a New one and it's a Special order. Is there any place that anyone knows of that rebuilds these things. My friend doesn't really have the cash to lay out for this. For a last resort i will try the junkyards.

See if you can carefully take it apart and clean it out. It's probably just full of sediment and rust flakes.

You could buy a Wildwood or JEGS prop valve for around $40 and replace the stock valve. It requires some adjustment to get it set right. A few full brake stops until it gets set so that both front and rear brakes engage about the same amount.

A full flush of the lines may be a good idea as well

I found a place online that sells rebuilt ones for $120 but you have to send in your old one or you get charged an $80 core fee. Going to change it today. I will let you know how it turns out.
