The story behind my 8 month 2003 F250 build.
So heres the story, I constantly have people with trucks (mainly f250's) coming up to me and commenting on my truck or asking me about it and i dont mind chatting with them about the trucks because I love it! so for any one who cares i figured i would do a build write up here we go HAHA. Please excuse my grammar and spelling, this isnt an essay its a build thread.
About a year ago I bought a nice 2002 f250 from the auction as a "recovered theft" once it got to the shop we realized the tranny, and drivelines were gone. So we turned it into a parts truck and my old man and I are going to build two trucks out of it.
about four months later I bought a 2003 f250 v10 that was a "run and drive" vehicle from the auction. turns out one of the pistons was blown through the oil pan. It did run and drive (hardly) on nine cylinders. Luckily i had a nice motor sitting in my parts truck.
decided we would pull the cab off and make a nice solid truck out of it. Stripped the frame down and repainted it along with the differentials and had the springs re arched and repainted them aswell. Had a nice fresh start to a more than ten year old truck.
we took the opportunity while we had the motor out to do all the maintenance that this motor is notorious for needing. and of course pressure washing/cleaning the engine bay and motor.
From there I moved on to modifying mostly the suspension components that the truck was already equipped with and replacing the old worn out shocks with Fox shocks (dual up front, single in the rear. )
added som rear trac bars, and did front and read matching diff covers, along with a fox dual steering stabilizer.
As far as the outside I changed the bumper to one offered by ford that doesn't include any plastic pads, I cut it to follow the lines of the fender flares and to avoid rubbing on the tires when turning then color matched it white along with the rear bumper. I repainted the grille that was on the truck when i bought it and added a 2011 f250 MASSIVE Ford emblem, did the 2005 headlight conversion. the truck had the smittybilt running boards on it when i got it, so i bought some new pads and sprayed them with rocker guard-black paint-clear coat. I color matched the bushwacker flares to the truck aswell. did a 2011 f250 mirror conversion and added the smoked clearance lights.
Thats about it! thanks for listening to my blabbing I will update this as i do small things to the truck, I would love to do a headlight retrofit with some nice projectors and HID, but funds are low rite now. I am happy to be part of the Ford family once again!
