5-bike rack = check air ride?
2007 Navi L... I usually love my air ride, but...
We were leaving for the beach with a reasonable load, 2 adults up front, 6 year old in the middle row and 11 and 9 year olds in back. Maybe 200 lbs of luggage in way back, nothing on the roof.
The 5-bike rack tripped my "Check air ride" warning though! It's a hitch mounted unit and had, in order from hitch to rear, bikes weighing about 35, 35, 28, 25, and 25 pounds... so maybe 150 lbs in bikes and 25 more for the rack... 175 in total weight.
I'm wondering how the length of the rack... Maybe 2' behind where a hitch ball would be... might have applied extra leverage effectively increasing the suspension's load to something much more than the actual weight.
Has anybody experienced this? Took the rack off and all was well except our nice bikes are at home and we had to pay $140 to rent 5 beater bikes for our vacation week!
Thanks!
