I have a 79 F-150 4x4 lariat and the rear end has seen better days. I also have a set of superduty axles front and rear off a 2001 F-250. I was wondering if they would fit under the 79 with little modification? If I do it I'd also install a 4" lift or so while I had it apart. Anyone know if this will work?

They short answer is no.

They CAN fit, with ALOT of modification, but a Dana 50 is worse than what you have now.

It has Dana 44 size u joints, which you have now, but a Dana 60 size pig to smash into everything and eat up all your ground clearance. It's basically the worst of both worlds, the main thing that makes people step up to one ton axles is shaft/u joint breakage.
