In need off old 6.0 mechanic in south Chicago/N. Indiana area

My brother is up in northern Indiana/south side of Chicago and his 2007 6.0 just decided to not start. It was a hot engine no restart. Thinking HPOP, obviously. But need a good 6.0 mechanic in that area. Trying to avoid the high prices of a dealership. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Need good mechanic. Not old mechanic. Stupid autocorrect!! Can an admin fix the title? I can't seem to figure out how.

Hey who you callin Old, try your Local Chapters closest to you. usually their are good shops and bad shops posted . 05 truck go through stand pipe dummy plugs, blown out screens in the IPR, or just the pump it self has worked it self . If you have some Gauges , Like Scan Gauge or a I Phone app you could Monitor ICP, ICPV, IPR and post up the Values. try to get them in Park , no HVAC , radio off, KOEO, LOW Idle, High at 2500 rpm

HPOP rarely goes out on 05+ trucks. the most likely culprits could be the dummy plugs, standpipes, or STC fitting. All are known weak links in the high pressure oil system in these trucks. If your brother isn't very mechanically inclined, a competent shop would be the best option. The parts to fix these known issues aren't very expensive, but the labor often is, especially for the STC fitting.

Good luck with the truck. I hope it's something that is simple and figured out quick.

He is very mechanically inclined but doesn't have any scan tools. He also doesn't have time to do it himself as he's covered up with his job. I think he has about 200,000 on his truck.

It's hard to know without any kind of data. I'd think STC fitting before HPOP, but with 200K on it, it might have already been replaced.

Neither HPOP nor STC fitting have been replaced. Would you suggest replacing HPOP anyway wth that much mileage on it?

I'd have to make that call after I got in there. I think the truck needs scanned and the HPO system air tested. This could be something as simple as a FICM or FICM relay which are super easy to change compared to an HPOP/STC. Diagnostic tools are cheap if you have a smart phone and an OBDII Elm? Bluetooth adapter. I know the owner is seriously pressed for time, but diagnostics are cheap compared to parts and labor. Not much we can't figure out here.

My brother drove it down to Wise Choice Automotive in Osceola. Matt is gonna fix him up. I feel like he's in good hands. I'll let the board know how it goes. Thanks for the replies.
