weird problem with 01 4.6 van
my work van has been running poorly so after much procrastination, I put in four new coil packs and two plugs. ( that was all the self abuse I could stand for one session).
So now, it it will start and idle fine but no low end power to drive. it idles for a short time then shuts off. Restart and it will shut off in less time.
At first there was surging which made me look for vacuum leaks but found none.
when I turn the key on, the rail pressure pumps up then bleeds down slightly.
when running it shows 40 pounds of pressure right up until it shuts off.
I hate working on vans but really don't want to buy another work truck.
Any advice?
thanks
Rich

Hi Rich:
Welcome to FTE. I have had to replace a couple coil packs on my '02 E150 with 4.6 but no clue on your problem. You have posted this in the F150 sub-forum; there is an E van forum as well, but you might actually get more help posting in the 4.6/5.4 mod motor sub-forum.
One major recommendation for changing plugs on the E vans is to unbolt the front seats and pull them out.
(There are probably more F150 owners out there than E van owners so you might get a helpful response here as well.)
Good luck,
George
