1978 f150 4x4 460 header ?

What are my options for headers? I have a 1978 f150 custom 4x4 that the previous owner put a 460 in but it needs an exhaust. If anyone could post What options i have with part numbers or a link so i don't order the wrong thing that would be great. Thanks in advance.

Hedman offers PN 85650 headers for a 460/F150 swap. Summit carries them....http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HED-85650

Your other options are L&L and Mad Dog.. or visit Jeff's Bronco Graveyard since they cater to 460s for 78/79 Broncos.

Either way, they're not "cheap".

You're welcome.

.. and I'm glad you're not looking for cheap.

Btw, based on some posts of the last few months, it seems that even supposedly higher quality parts have had fitment and quality problems. On those Hedmans, the passenger side has been hit or miss (literally!).

I have the short L&L headers on my 78 f150 and they work great! The 1st set of long fender exit headers.....not so much. If you have the lager oil pan it is a bit tight but it will work.

so you are running the chassis exit headers now?

This is the kinda of information im looking for. i just don't want to pay $600 for something and have to modify it to make it work.

Yes the chassis exit. I'm also running 2 1/2 pipe and flowmaster 44's and 3 1/2 tips and it sounds great!

If it is ease of installation yer looking for, then consider Sanderson FF463 headers; The Sanderson FF463 header set fits Ford Bronco 4x4's, Studebaker Trucks, and Avantis using Ford Big Block 429-460 engines.

They're spec'ed for 66-77 Broncos with a 460 but Sanderson's webpage states that it'll fit more than what they list. Call 'em to verify or at least get some direct feedback.

I am running Sanderson FF427 headers in my 2WD '70 FE very happy with their fit and finish. So much so that I bought another set for my '71 F250.
