Under hood bolt color(s)

I'm curious about the color of the "fender" bolts, especially under the hood. Zinc, black, phosphate, or painted body color ?

From the factory they were zinc as near as I can tell. The panels were painted off of the truck, so they wouldn't be body color. I don't think people look that closely at Ford trucks. As long as they're uniform, you should be good.

Isn't rust a color? At least that's what I tell myself.

Not doing a 100 point resto, but I'm going to order new bolts, might as well make an effort to make them look correct.

When I did my resto on the 79 F350 4x4 SC, I used stainless steel and they look amazing!! I would always use SS but that's just my .02

IMO, cadmium plated would be a nice detail... same goldish color as Grade 8 hardware.

AMK Fasteners in Winchester, VA has the correct bolts for the fenders. A bit pricey though. Restoration hardware - AMK Products Inc !
