f250 shimmi and rattle repair
Hello all.
Well after reading dozens and dozens of of texts about the dreaded death rattle I wanted to weigh in on my problem and what was the cause and repair.
It started shortly after putting near capacity weight in my 1995 F250. 7.5 2WD XLT.
The next day began the evolving vibration/shimi starting 72
at MPH and changing. Evolved into a 45MPH then again at 65.
At times I thought the dash was going to rattle off and fly out the window. It began destroying the truck, causing a trans fluid and coolant leaks.
That was it. Could take no more, unfortunately threads read here didnt spell out answer clear enough. I installed new ball joints, and tie rods, and sway bar rubbers. All neading change, post rattle. None stopped the rattle however. Slowed it, changed it, made it better, but not stop.
PROBLEM was Axle Pivot Bushings. The axles were flexing back and forth flairing out brackets as well. Those 6 dollar pains in the butt did not change easy for me but change they did. Also bent back axle brackets to proper width. Problem solved.
Hope this helps another ford owner.
