1951 239 flathead exhaust manifold

I was just putting my exhaust manifold (1951 239 flathead passengers side) back on my truck (F5) and dropped it (it broke in two). Any body know where I can get one or have one for sale?

Thanks

I did a quick check at MotorHaven and I don't think our host has them. MAC's lists them at $160, ouch! Ell-Emm-See also lists the left-hand side at $170. Didn't see any on eBay. You are probably better off putting an ad in the classified section of the site. Good luck!

I have one that has surface pitting, but is solid - came off my truck when I went to headers. It may need new studs.
This one has the exhaust opening off the side between the first and second exhaust ports. If this is what you need let me know by email at mtflat(No Email Addresses In Posts!).

1951 239 flathead exhaust manifold

I gave brazing a try and put the two parts back together. I hope to install them this weekend. If the manifold does not hold up I will get back with MTFLAT or SLICKSHIFT. Thanks for the reply.

Note 1: I have talked to Red Headers in the past about headers for an F-5. He told me that they would be a special order because of the dimensional differences between the F-5 and F-1 frame / steering box. In addition he needed the truck in order to insure the fit. If he works off the dimensions that I supply, there is no guaranty that it will fit.

Note 2: The stock exhaust pipes (that hook up to the stock manifords) are different between the F-1 and the F-5. I could not find any exhaust pipes mail order for the F-5 so I bought exhaust pipes for the F-1. I figured it would be easer to modify the F-1 than to make new ones from scratch.

Note 3: I was told that there is a demand for right side truck manifolds by the car owners who are going to duel exhaust. The car right manifold has an inlet (from the left side) and an exit port. The car owners use truck manifolds to make the duel exhaust hookup look cleaner by using a truck manifold on the right side.

No, it's an F5. Engines are the same, thus the exhaust manifolds are the same. Difference is the pipe that connects to 'em to the muffler - I'd guess its longer before they turn horizontal because of the larger chassis.

Headers include a short pipe, compared to stock exhaust manifold, thus are more model specific.

Hey Gil! Welcome to FTE.

The thread you responded to (this one) is 11 years old. You might do better to start a new one or place a "wanted" classified ad.

Good luck in your search.
