sorry, but another 6.0 question....

Hi, new member from so cal. not a ford truck owner yet, but shopping for a diesel and can potentially become a powerstroke owner in the short future. ( or a cummins owner)
Basically, I am looking for a used diesel longbed 4x4 that I can use as a daily driver and occasionally put a pop up camper on the back and travel with my wife and kid.
Came across a very clean 2006 6.0 Lariat with little over 100k miles on it. I know, i know, another 6.0 post. But based on the availability/affordability of a used, low-mileage 6.0 over some of the other diesels that i found, this might be the way to go. I've been doing some research on this site and a few other diesel sites and it seems that some type of engine repair will be needed on all diesel engines. More so it seems on the 6.0 but the fact that this particular engine has been heavily dissected and diagnosed, the repair plan seems to be financially and easily obtainable.
So my question is for all the current 6.0 owners that have stuck with their rig, invested the time and money with oil coolers, coolant filter, oil filter, gauges/monitors, and meticulously take care of their routine maintenance...since all those mods and changes, were there any other failures or repairs that took place down the road? Did the mods help and how are they holding up? it seems that finding these "awful" 6.0 rigs with low miles at a very reasonable price, investing the initial cost of a bullet proof complete mod (this seems to be the crowd favorite) is still cheaper than finding a used low mile 5.9/6.7 cummins and more favorable than finding a heavily used 7.3.
any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I bought my 04 Excursion w/03 6.0l brand new. Went through several EGR valves, and turbos, a few injectors, and an EGR cooler in the first 4 years. Had headgaskets, studs, new factory EGR and oil coolers done in 08. I added a second fuel pump, regulated return, and coolant filter myself. Truck had approx 60K miles at the time, with the majority of miles towing a toy hauler at MVWR. With all that work done, I started hitting it harder. Strong tunes,100 passes at the dragstrip, a hundred pounds of nitrous through the motor, and kept towing the same trailer.

Since then, I haven't had another major engine repair. I'm at 185K miles. I replaced a couple more turbos, but that's because N2O blows up factory turbos. I've replaced induction boots as PM. Same EGR components, oil cooler, and injectors from 08. No coolant problems. An A/C line just sprung a leak, but that's unrelated.

The 6.0l's solutions are no mystery anymore. A good plan, and you can build a really strong, solid, motor.
