Yes, that's correct. Placing the center of the wheels farther from the frame allows the wheels to turn at a higher angle before rubbing the frame rail.

I have an '11 450 which is essentially the same a s a 350 with max tow. I love the tight turning radius, puts a smile on my face anytime I have to a u turn.
That said, it would be nice to be able to order the wide front axle with out the 4:30's for easier high speed cruising.
Wide front axle +3:73's would make the ultimate dually for me!

My F-450 work truck with the widetrac front axle turns tighter than my crew cab F-150, even though the F-150 is a foot shorter.

Hear! Hear! Spot on on both counts. My F-450 turns much sharper than my wife'''s '13 Ram 1500 crew cab.
