Major electrical problems when clutch pedal is engaged
Hi all
I have a 1997 F150 XLT 4.6, standard transmission. the problem is every time I push the clutch the 4x4 light on the lower right of the dash pops on the power windows and windshield wipers will not work, releasing the clutch everything and goes back to normal, I checked the relay that was clicking every time I push the clutch in and switched it out same problem. As of yesterday the problem has now reversed, when the clutch is released everything doesn't work and a 4x4 light pops on,
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

The Gem controls the wipers and power windows as well as 4x4.
There is an input to the GEM from the brake pedal that may be affecting the GEM.
Look over the harness area and switch assembly on the brake and clutch mount for shorts or grounds when the pedal is pushed.
Normally the dash lamp is lighted from the GEM module after the signal from the firewall solenoid is received through the transfer case motor circuit board.
In your case the T-case motor should not be operated in 2wd , so suggests there is a wire issue.
Good luck.

Your symptoms are of a bad ground, probably for the GEM module. Start by pulling off the kick panels on the passenger side and the driver's side and inspect the ground studs. The GEM module uses one on each side (G200 & G201).

Top left fuse block second down that is the relay that is clicking.
Check all grounds underneath both sides of kick plates clean bolts connectors reattached did not solve problem. There is a little bit of rusty water water drips on the metal under fuse block, looks like it maybe the GEM.
