backed up into a tree

Yeah I just backed up into a tree, don't ask. I need a quick fix or my parents will kill me. I was thinking about bending it back by attaching rope to the bend end and pulling it back with a car. What do you think? Any suggestions?

Hey man sorry to hear that Gremster...but you know SAR Ranger is totally right but don’t worry about the casket...I had the exact same problem but I tried to lie to my parents but that didn’t work and they got really mad...not so much in of the fact that I backed into a telephone poll, (that was my lie…me backing into a tree, I don’t know why I lied now it seems so dumb it doesn’t really matter what I backed into it still does the same damage) but in of the fact that I lied to them (its the same as trying to fool them by fixing it without telling em) that’s what got me burned…I could only drive to school and to NJROTC functions…anyway just come clean with them…if you weren’t being dumb or drunk when you backed into a tree and it was an honest accident they’ll be mad about the truck but it wont last forever, and hey who knows you might gain some points with them for being honest with them up front. And offer to pay for it before they demand that you pay for it. I hope things work out well…but let me know what happens man. Good luck

Signed,
The Don

p.s. i wouldnt use a car because you might put to much pressure and break it or bend it in the opposite direction.

You ain't going to get away with it. If you can call them before they see it and tell them. One it will give them time to cool a bit and 2 it shows responsibility for owning up to your actions.

Do what I used to do on report card day. See I had a terrible problem with math in high school. I failed the same class TWICE. On report card day, I would write a nice letter saying that I know I could have tried harder and that i............. bla bla bla. To put it bluntly, I would kiss *** (excuse my french). Then I woudl go off-roading in my truck or dissappear with my friends all day. When I came home they were much calmer than they would have been if I told them face to face!!! Hope you come out of this alive!!!!

Stand up and be responsible. It shows a lot of maturity when you admit to your mistakes. How would you feel if the tables were turned and your dad had torn up something of yours and then lied about it? Definately offer to get it fixed. If it is the bumper that is bent, get some prices on line for replacement parts and show them to your parents.
Good Luck and I know you will survive this.

Fess up and tell yours parents. I know if my son did it and lied to me about it I'd be p-oed. To me a liar is a low life. I might be a little upset about a little accident but I'd be more concerned about nobody getting hurt than a bent bumper.

Yeah, I rode with a buddy to a cruise in Friday night and he backed his Chevy in to the light pole there and put a nice dent the size of a silver dollar in his rear bumper. I told him he was too close but he didn't believe me. Hmmm.....must mean something about us Ford drivers........

I don't know what year your truck is, but I've used a chain to pull the bend out. One end to the bumper, one to a tree- with a friend to watch things. Go slow. Of course, you won't get rid of the crease, but it'll be less noticeable. If it's an older truck, new or used bumpers aren't that expensive. When my kids break something, my blood pressure lowers if there's a replacement part at least half installed by the time I find out.

Yeah I just told my dad what happened, he wasn't too thrilled. "That's what you get for driving in the woods." So if I want it fixed it's coming out of my pocket. Here's a picture: http://jasonmanzano.tripod.com/mytruck/

I couldnt see any real damage. I would try to pull as hard as I can and hope it works. If its bad then just try going to a junk yard and find a new one.

Check out what a tree did to my bumper. Its in my gallary, BTW it wasnt me that did the damage.

P.S. that looks like a chevy truck

j/k no prob with coming here

why worry about it?
Chances are good it won't be the last time you do something like that. If it were me I wouldn't bother with it. I got many dings all over the box, but thats what I got it for to haul and use.

Currently my truck is around the 12500 mile mark in almost 2 years.
